I was excited to be invited back to HIET.

We accomplished SO MANY THINGS in our few days together:

  • Created new venous worksheet diagrams

  • Created 3 ultrasound protocols

  • Created ultrasound report templates

  • Reviewed venous anatomy and hemodynamics

  • Trained the new sonographers in venous insufficiency ultrasound using:

       -good ergonomics

-with the patient in the standing

  • Trained the procedure nurse in ultrasound for guidance during a venous procedure.

January

Middlesex Surgical Associates
Vein Center Accreditation

Three for Three!I  have had the privilege of guiding Middlesex Surgical Associates through three IAC vein center accreditations. Starting with the initial application and two reaccreditations.  Up next is their 10th Vascular Lab reaccreditation!

November

Indiana Vein Specialists
"Substitute Venous Sonographer"

What an awesome experience working with Indiana Vein Specialists. Over the course of 9 days, I was able to help the ultrasound team get caught up on their backlog of patients with the added bonus of making new connections and learning a few new things from Dr. Schoonover.

Thank you Indian Vein Specialists for inviting me to join your team for a little while!

NOVEMBER

Invited speaker for the Society for Vascular Ultrasound

What a great experience presenting my "talk" titled Lower Extremity Venous Insufficiency & The Sonographers Role In Diagnosing It as part of the SVUs e-learning program.  We had over 200 attendees who contributed to the discussion with MANY excellent questions.  There were so many questions that we went 1/2 hour long while maintaining our attendance.

Attendee Comments

RPhS Exam Writing Committee

One of my favorite times of the year is the annual meeting of the  Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhS) examination committee.  I am honored to be one of a group of 7 subject matter experts who collaborate to write the RPhS credentialing exam.

Spending time with this talented group of people always renews my passion for venous ultrasound!

360 Vascular Solutions Dublin, OH
Technologist training, vascular lab set up, and creation of vascular lab protocols

Dr. Sudi specializes in the treatment of iliofemoral venous disease so we focused our training on duplex imagining of the iliac veins for patency and obstruction as well as lower extremity venous insufficiency ultrasound.

We were able to create customized vascular protocols based on accreditation requirements, local insurance requirements, and the info that Dr. Sudi prefers to form treatment plans for his patients.

“I strongly recommend Donna to train/ teach any vascular ultrasound technologist looking to learn more about venous disease. She made me feel very comfortable through the whole learning process. She took the time to answer any questions Dr. Sudi or I had, from scanning protocols to CPT codes and everything in between. Donna truly has a passion for teaching and can help bridge the gap between physicians and techs. She has truly made a difference in my career; I am forever grateful to have learned so much from her.

Thank you very much,

Kendel RVT, ARDMS (AB)”

American Vein and Lymphatic Society Webinar

In celebration of ultrasound sound month, the AVLS Ultrasound Committee hosted two free webinars for members and non-members!

I was proud to act as the moderator for both sessions and to present on two subjects:

"Lower extremity Venous Duplex, Clues to pelvic involvement"

'Ultrasound for Pelvic Venous Disorders"

Inguinal Escape Point

Left Gonadal Vein

September

What an honor to present on the topic of Ultrasound For Pelvic Venous Disorders at the 10th annual Brazilian Congress of Vascular Ecography. The session was led by THE PELVIC TEAM, which comprises a group of brilliant women educating the vascular community on venous disease.

August

The annual Society for Vascular Ultrasound conference is always a favorite of mine. The combination of presenting on my favorite topics, participating in hands-on teaching, and learning something new from one of the many accomplished members of the faculty always renews my enthusiasm for vascular ultrasound!

July

I had an amazing few days at the Heart Institute of East Texas in Lufkin.  Dr. Bachireddy and his team were fabulous to work with! We spent our time discussing strategies for successful guidance during ultrasound procedures, reviewed vascular lab studies, and discussed ways to improve the efficiency and reliability of venous insufficiency exams.

May

The experience of a lifetime!  I spent the weekend in NY at the Venous Symposium, selling our newly published book INSIDE ULTRASOUNDS VENOUS VASCULAR REFERENCE GUIDE in the marketplace.  I was joined by one of my Co-authors, Linda Antonucci, on Saturday, and I had the great pleasure of meeting Nicos Labropolous, who kindly acted as editor for the book!

April

Another successful hand-on ultrasound course for the AVLS.  I always enjoy collaborating with my fellow AVLS ultrasound committee members to create a great experience for the attendees!
